National Identity Card (NIC) Application Key Information
Every Sri Lankan citizen aged 15 years or above must apply for a National Identity Card (NIC). The process is simple if you follow the correct steps and submit the required documents.
- Eligibility: Sri Lankan citizens aged 15 years or above.
- Documents: Application forms (DRP/1, 7, 8), certified birth certificate or extract, ICAO-standard photograph (within 6 months), and payment receipt.
- Where to apply: Through Grama Niladhari (general applicants) or Principal/Parivenadhipathi (school applicants), processed via Divisional Secretariats.
- Processing: Normal service delivers NIC by post. One-day service is available at Battaramulla and Galle offices.
